Hillary's contempt for men by Camille Paglia

Fascinating analysis of Hillary's psyche by Camille Paglia here. If this analysis is correct there is NO WAY this woman should be President. Of course, I don't want her there just for her liberal stands on the issues, but if this analysis is correct then she is dangerously unbalanced in her dealings with men and would be a threat to our nation's security in her dealings with foreign leaders.

the crying game

Whether she did it on purpose or if it was genuine, I think it was Hillary's being on the verge of tears on Monday that won her the New Hampshire primary. I think it is a pretty sad commentary on the decision-making process of the New Hampshire Democrat primary voters that that is the case, but I think that was what did it for her. I also read the theory on Hugh Hewitt's blog (here) that a lot of potential Obama voters thought it was in the bag for him and decided to cross over and vote for McCain instead. Could be. I just am hoping that Rudy can win in Florida and then win big on Super Tuesday otherwise the choices are bad (McCain) and worse (Huckabee).

the Diana-ification of American Presidential politics

Excellent blog posting here by Melanie Phillips that explains the Obama phenomenon. I'm OK with the guy knocking Hillary out of contention, but let's hope that the American people come to their senses before the general election.

my Iowa caucus reaction

My mood has been up and down over the day. It was kind of distressing to see Mike Huckabee win in Iowa. I guess his winning and keeping the race in turmoil until later in the month is good for my favorite candidate, Rudy Giuliani. Still, it is disturbing to see a bible-thumping populist like Huckabee (on Hugh Hewitt's show today, Larry Kudlow said he is a modern-day William Jennings Bryan and I pretty much agree with that) gain such a big bump. I sure hope he gets a smack-down in the New Hampshire primary. I'd still rather see Giuliani over Romney, but I'd rather see Romney over pretty much any of the others. Oy!

so the U.S. does have friends after all

Great commentary here with a link to the full story about how at a recent meeting British P.M. Gordon Brown and French President Sarkozy were having a friendly disagreement over which country was the closest friend to the U.S. I guess the rest of the world doesn't hate us after all!

liberal fascism

On my long drive back to Colorado I was listening to a lot of podcasts and one of them was the Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds, interview with Jonah Goldberg about his new book "Liberal Fascism". It was really a fascinating interview. I might have to get that book. Goldberg really explains how the Left has managed to completely subvert our view of history. Nazism is "National Socialism" after all and socialism is what the hard Left is all about. Goldberg apparently goes into great historical detail about all this in the book and you get a good sampling of that in the podcast, which you can access here.

why Hillary Clinton isn't a "reasonable" candidate for President

I've been off on travel for the holidays, but should be posting with a little more regularity again. Anyway, I just read this column by Peggy Noonan where she reviews which of the presidential candidates and which aren't. I don't agree with her about Rudy Giuliani, but she is spot on about Hillary. She is way too polarizing.

TIME blows it... why am I not surprised?

TIME magazine named Vladimir Putin the man of the year. Sure Putin has been an important person, but, really,  who deserves this honor more than General David Petraeus?  He and our armed forces have done an amazing job in quelling violence in Iraq. TIME is run by a bunch of lefties, they would never validate our success in Iraq, so I'm not surprised, but it is still sad that Gen. Petraeus isn't getting the widespread, page one recognition that he so richly deserves.

the "religion of peace" shows its love in Canada

This is a really horrible story and after seeing it on "Fox & Friends", I had to dig a bit to find a decent print account of it. A Muslim cab driver in Canada strangled his own daughter because she wouldn't wear a "hijab" or head scarf. Some of the accounts I saw didn't even mention the "honor killing" aspect of this murder. On the "Fox & Friends" show, they interviewed Brigitte Gabriel and she said that the murderer is a hero to many in the Canadian Muslim community. This is the face of Islam that has to be exposed.

Tammy Bruce rips Huckabee

Radio hostess with the mostest (couldn't resist), Tammy Bruce really rips Mike Huckabee in this post. I can't really disagree with anything she says there. I just don't know what all these people saying they now support Huckabee are thinking. Or are they thinking at all?

finally some sanity in the global warming debate

Yahoo had a link on their news page to this story.  Even though the group mentioned in the story very reasonably sees flaws in the storyline of human-induced global warming.   You will see that the writer of the story just can't help but insert his own bias.  The group that says global warming isn't human induced does so "stubbornly"  and they are doing so against  the "vast majority" of their colleagues.  Even the  link  to the story uses the shorthand "usclimatewarmingdenial".  It's not scientific debate, it's "denial".  Good grief.

Looking forward to next summer's IronMan movie

One of my favorite superheroes was always IronMan so I'm really psyched about the movie coming out next summer. Here's a cool new public release picture from that movie.

Kudos to the people of Venezuela

Much to my surprise (I figured Chavez would jigger the results), the vote in Venezuela did go forward and, HOORAY, President Piggie (as Laura Ingraham calls him) was denied being president-for-life. Maybe there is hope in South America after all.

The New Republic admits to slandering our troops

Awhile back The New Republic ran a few stories from a writer, Scott Beauchamp, who claimed to have been a soldier in Iraq. Well, he was a soldier in Iraq, but that is about as much truth as there was in the stories (which were very unflattering to our troops). The New Republic has finally admitted that the stories were pretty much made up. Michelle Malkin has a good take on it here.

Obama's disastrous plan for NASA

The worst presidential candidate for space-related matters seems to be Obama. He's talking about taking money out of NASA's budget for an education program (like we're not already spending enough money on education... we just need to spend what we have more wisely). Extensive discussion on Obama's plan here.
